Old wooden cradle.

Even though much is written in books about the ancestry of Doctor Theophrast from Hohenheim, legend does not pay any heed to this. In Tyrol it is believed and said that Theophrast was a child of love, the son of a lofty nobleman. Others claim that his origin is similar to that of Robert the Devil. Nothing is known for certain, but one thing the legends of Tyrol agree on: The mother of Theophrast was a girl from Switzerland, poor but kind. When she carried the child beneath the heart, he already screamed so loudly that it could be heard from afar. Finally, in order to bring Theophrast into the world, they had to cut his poor mother into parts. This is what the legend in the Lower Inn valley commonly claims.
