About a human lifespan ago — and the older locals can still remember this incident clearly — a man was buried in Trzebiatkow. And it took not long until one person among the relatives after another of the deceased died. Then the locals realized who they were dealing with. A few stout-hearted men went to the graveyard and dug up the grave. And then the Unhîr sat in the coffin, and chewed on his chest and his hands.

The people now sought to turn the corpse over, so that the Unhîr would eat into the ground instead of stalking humans. But the dead one resisted this with all his might. Then a strong man named Witt took a sharp peat spade and decapitated him with one thrust. From that time onwards, the people of Trzebiatkow had peace from the Unhîr once more.

(Oral tale from Trzebiatkow, in the Bütow district.)
