Witches as Hares

Once, seven (!) hares appeared before a huntsman waiting for game, and they capered on the young clovers with the strangest jumps. Then he realized that they were witches, and hurried away. Another huntsman, who was more stout-hearted, first tried to deal with them with lead. But when the lead would not connect, he took his silver earrings from his ears, crushed them, loaded them, and shot. Then the hares turned into young girls.
The lord of Langen once was on a hunt together with his friends. After long, futile searching, the dogs found a large hare which they pursued to the vicinity of a farmhouse. Here, a small boy shouted: “Mother, run, the dogs of Langen are after you!” The hare quickly squeezed into the house through the chicken door. And when the hunters stepped into the house immediately afterwards, they found an old woman who stood at the stove and was out of breath.
