A poor man from Dönberg once was condemned to a short prison term as a punishment. One day, he set out to serve his sentence. In the evening of the same day, his kin went to bed at the usual time. When the adult daughter woke up the next morning, she immediately rose to prepare the coffee. After she had finished brewing it, she went to the bedroom to bring her mother a cup. Then she clearly saw her father lying in the bed. Out of astonishment she screamed loudly and was only able to report what she had seen after her mother had cajoled her for some time. But the mother called the girl a liar and sent her away. Before she turned around to leave, she stole one further glance into the direction of the bed. But now the father had vanished without a trace.
