Once, several people were working on groynes near Hooksiel in the parish of Pakens in the early morning. They then saw a strange vehicle occupied by two women approach over the Jade channel from the direction of the Butjadingen peninsula. The vehicle was a large sieve, and two ribs of a cow served as oars. When the women landed, they concealed the boat and the oars behind a groyne and walked to Hooksiel. When they were gone, the workers took the vehicle and the oars, hid them, and went back to work. Not long after that, the witches came back and wanted to get back into their vehicle. When they didn’t find it, they were frightened terribly and cried out “my sieve, my rib!” and searched and searched. Finally, the workers took pity on them and handed over sieve and ribs. Quickly the women boarded their vehicle and vanished towards Butjadingen within moments.
In the Wüsting area, a walrider was also spotted traveling in a sieve across the flooded Blankenburg Mark into the area of the Brookdeich levee.
